• “Why is Aunt Lucy here?” Abigail whispered fearfully, her small body tensed. Without hesitation, she left the glass with the three cups of ice cream she had been enjoying so much, then hurriedly hid behind Victoria's back.
• Across from them, Lucy chuckled. “Ah, you rude little girl,” she said in a teasing tone, though the look in her eyes was cold. She didn't even care when Victoria gave her a sharp look. “Don't you want to eat with your dear aunt here?”
• Abigail hugged her mother even tighter, hiding her face under Victoria's dress.
