Chapter 48

• About twenty minutes later, the vehicle began slowing down and the men beside Dani sat up straighter in attention. They had to have arrived at the estate by now, or nearing the gates. Her ears picked up the sound of a window rolling down, and a couple more words in Russian. Likely a brief exchange between the driver and the guards.
• The car came to a full stop a few minutes later, and Dani was guided out until her feet landed on solid ground. Now that they were in enemy territory, she was handled more roughly, being pushed forward until she was almost stumbling. A tight grip yanked her to a full stop, and soon hands patted her from head to toe, checking for weapons. Those hands lingered on her curves, and Dani bit back a snarl at the squeeze on her buttocks.
• As soon as they deemed her cleared, she was pushed forward again. They continued walking, and only the sound of footsteps filled her surroundings. Several turns, a long hallway, and a heavy door opened.
