Chapter 38
- Mariella was checked into a rehabilitation center upstate. It took little convincing to prove her lack of sobriety, since Mariella faced the doctor standing barely upright, either from the alcohol or her grogginess from oversleeping.
- Dani paid for the first month of treatment, using funds she now had access to after proving to the bank that, as a legal and capable adult, she could handle family finances in the absence of her parents.
- She settled credit card bills, utility bills, and most of her father’s outstanding hospital bills. It practically drained the entire account, and Dani made the call of moving out of the family penthouse. She sold most of the furniture, paintings, and some of her mother’s jewelry to pay deposit for a studio apartment in Queens.
