Chapter 7

  • “Mommy, what happened to Simba after he left their kingdom? ”Rious asked, bringing me out of my thoughts.
  • I smiled at him and replied, “Well, Simba meets his new friends Timon and Pumba, and they travel and grow together. Simba even learns to eat worms.”
  • “But he’s a lion,” Rious said, looking confused.
  • “Yes, he’s a meat-eating lion who also eats insects,” I explained, brushing his hair gently.
  • After another story, Rious finally fell asleep. "Goodnight, dream happy dreams," I whispered, planting a gentle kiss on his head.
  • I closed his door and walked back to my room. The memory of that night started to linger in my brain.
  • I couldn’t stop myself from going further after that very awkward kiss. I couldn’t stop myself. Instead of pulling away, I intensified the kiss. I felt like I was in the desert, and I couldn’t find an ounce of water! I desperately hooked myself on him, thinking that it was he who could ease my thirst.
  • And with him, it seemed as if it was the first time that I had quenched my hunger. My face was burning. My mind was blank, and all his smells surrounded me like fireflies.
  • I could remember the taste of his lips. My body felt hot; it remained that way long after we'd finished. I was already in bed and was staring at the ceiling, watching the scene in his bedroom replay over and over again in my mind.
  • I rushed out of the room, feeling ashamed of my actions. I immediately went to Rious' room to read him a story, trying to distract myself from what had just happened.
  • His last statement kept me awake too. I don't understand what he meant by that. I have a feeling that he already knows something.
  • Maybe he was just going along with my claim of being his wife. Or maybe he finally realized that I wasn't his wife?
  • I wanted to talk to him about it, but after that kiss, I felt like he was somewhat avoiding me.
  • Sure, I planned to avoid him too. But it's more about us being alone in a room to prevent any more unpredictable behavior. He had a captivating presence that could easily ignite a spark between us. On the other hand, I was so easily captivated by his charm. It was a very dangerous combination.
  • His physical appearance was striking, with chiseled features and a muscular body that seemed as hard as stone. The only soft part of his body was his lips.
  • Shaking myself out of my thoughts, I gave my cheek a light slap. It was probably as hot as a pan on the stove from all the blushing.
  • “Stop it, Kassandra,” I scolded myself. “You’re better than this. You can’t keep dwelling on this fantasy. It’s not real, and it’s not healthy. That man is married. He’s off-limits! ”I restrained myself and quickly realized something that made me groan in irritation. “What a jerk! He’s married, and yet he kissed me? What the hell have I gotten myself into? ”
  • I took a deep breath and tried to focus on what's on my plate right now. My plan was to escape. Not to be weak against that man.
  • As I drifted off to sleep, I vowed to regain my focus and not let my desires for him cloud my judgment. I needed to stay to stick to my goals, no matter how tempting the fantasy may seem.
  • I was consumed by the memory of the forbidden kiss, replaying it over and over in my mind like a movie on repeat. My thoughts drifted to the possibilities of what could have happened if we had not stopped, if we had given in to the desire that pulsed between us.
  • In my mind, there were no boundaries, no moral dilemmas, and no obstacles to hold us back. We were free to explore each other without consequence.
  • As the night wore on, my fantasies only intensified. We went further, explored more, and indulged in each other without restraint. The only thing that mattered in my dream was him, me, and the passion we shared.
  • That was in my mind before darkness finally consumed me.
  • After taking a refreshing bath the next day, I was surprised to see that my closet was now overflowing with the latest fashion trends. I asked Mrs. Tess about it, and she simply explained that my husband had ordered it so it would arrive this morning.
  • I was speechless. Could it be that he gave me these gifts as a form of apology for the kiss we shared?
  • The thought irritates the hell out of me.
  • "MOMMY, I'M HAVING TROUBLE subtracting these three numbers from another three," Rious complained, his face contorted with frustration.
  • I flashed a smile and playfully bit his cheek, causing him to giggle. I grabbed a piece of scratch paper and gave him an example.
  • "To substract this number, we have to start from the left. If the number above is smaller than the one below, we'll borrow 10 from the adjacent number and reduce it by one," I explained as I scribbled on the scratch paper.
  • We were in the living room, working on Rious' assignment. We are waiting for his father, who is now running late for dinner.
  • After two days, Karious was so consumed with work that I couldn't get a chance to talk to him. Nevertheless, I still planned on confronting him about his statement and whether it was true.
  • Honestly, I am starting to like staying in their house. I am starting to get closer to Rious. But I also have a life separate from this. I can visit them, but I can't just abandon my own life to play a part in someone else's.
  • I might already have an AWOL mark on my record, which isn't a good sign. I need to return to work soon.
  • Suddenly, I heard a noise coming from the car outside the house. It must be him.
  • "Have you finished your assignment, baby?" I asked Rious as soon as I saw Karious entering the house.
  • "Yes, mommy!"
  • I helped Rious tidy up his things while Karious walked in with his suitcase through the front door. Mrs. Tess, who opened the door, took it from him.
  • "Daddy!" Rious exclaimed and ran to his father.
  • I instructed Rious' nanny, Mabel, to take Rious belongings to his room and handed her his bag.
  • I wasn't sure whether to approach Karious or head straight to the dining area.
  • What was I hoping to achieve by approaching him? I'm not like Rious, who wants to hug or kiss his father. I don't need a hug! Much more, a kiss!
  • With a flushed face, I marched into the kitchen to see if dinner was ready.
  • I offered to help Gigi when I saw her transferring the rice onto the plate. "I'll do it, Gigi," I said. "Can you help Hana set the table in the dining room?"
  • "Of course, ma'am."
  • A warm sensation bubbled up inside me, and I wasn't sure what it was or why I was feeling it. Initially, I had hesitated to stay here, and I had many plans to escape. Where have those plans gone now?
  • 'Maybe you've grown to enjoy your role as a housewife,' a voice in my head suggested.
  • "Impossible!" I protested. "I don't even want to marry Dad's business partner, so why would I accept being his wife?"
  • 'Or maybe you secretly desire the wifely duties,' the voice teased.
  • I scolded myself for the thought. "You're such a flirt!"
  • Just as I finished transferring the rice, someone suddenly touched my waist, which surprised me.
  • "Fudging horse!" I exclaimed, taken aback by the onslaught of sensation that ripped through me.
  • A grinning Karious caught my attention when I turned. It was the first time I had seen him with such a look, and I felt myself getting flustered.
  • "Wait a minute, back off!" I panicked, realizing he was getting too close.
  • He stepped away, but his hand was still holding my waist, maneuvering it towards him. I focused my attention on trying to remove it.
  • "What are you doing here?" he playfully asked, as if he had seen me fleeing the living room earlier.
  • "I'm preparing the dinner," I responded, keeping my distance. I gasped when he pushed and cornered me against the counter.
  • "By the way..." he trailed off, and I tensed up, anticipating what he might say next. "Regarding what happened last time—"
  • "It's nothing!" I interrupted, cutting him off before he could finish. "Don't even think about it!"
  • I pushed him and forcefully made my way out of his arms. I can feel how hot my face was. He only needs to remember his statement, not the kiss that we shared!
  • "I just wanted us to talk, but you seduced me." His words made me stop in my tracks. I snapped to face him.
  • “I did not seduce you! It was you who initiated the kiss! "
  • What the hell? Is it now my fault that I was irresistible? We wouldn’t have gone so far if he had not pulled me towards his bedroom.
  • "Well, you managed to seduce me," he said with a smirk. "I'm weak when it comes to temptation."
  • I let out an exasperated sigh and rolled my eyes before setting the plate on the table.
  • Rious was already seated, watching us. He must be wondering why his parents are fighting over the plate of rice. Karious keeps snatching the plate from my hand that I was purposely refusing.
