Chapter 14

  • I reluctantly follow my gaze at her with a forrowed brow. I'm aware that any unprofessional act would only give her satisfaction. Oh, how I wish I could just slam her face onto my desk, but I remind myself to maintain my composure.
  • "Patience, Kassandra. I need to have a lot of patience. There's no need to stoop down to her level," I remind myself silently. As a precaution, I discreetly sanitize the areas she touches. After all, I wouldn't want to catch any metaphorical "rabies" from that woman.
  • My blood boils at the mere thought of that woman. It's not just because she happens to be Karious' ex-wife. There's something deeper that unsettles me. From the moment I first laid eyes on her in Dad's office, I sensed a filthy presence. It's as if she doesn't truly belong here, and her intentions are far from pure. Despite us sharing a supposed sisterhood or being twins, I can't feel any genuine connection between us.
