Chapter 64 James

- At the Navy boot camp, I spent about ten weeks of training on the western shore of Lake Michigan. The first few days were filled with learning the basics of being in the military such as standing at attention, reciting general orders and learning the proper military dress code. The days were lengthy, and sleep was usually minimal. I was assigned to a division of about 80 men and women which was where I finished my training with the assigned division.
- During training after I had gone through the initial Navy processing days also known as p days, each week focused on different aspects of what it takes to become a Navy sailor. The first week was the most intensive for physical conditioning. Followed by introductions to marching, rank symbolizing, recognition, education on a lot of things and lastly, the Navy's core values.
