Chapter 21 Annie

• I had intended to have lunch with him but seeing as he rejected me and my embarrassment after, I gently go to my room to avoid any awkwardness and silence. Why wouldn’t he want me to repay him like that? Does he know how many guys that will willingly accept that or are even begging for my attention? I offer myself to him and he has the audacity to push me away. I groan in frustration and frown as I eat.
• “Everything I did I did because I wanted to” I say pondering on his words. Why does he want to help me? Is it because he finds me helpless or just out of loyalty to my father? From experience I’ve come to realize that people barely want to help out for free, they always want something in return but he doesn’t want anything from me, why?
• “I’m sure you would have done the same if I needed your help.” I mimic trying to sound like him and scoff. What makes him think I would help him anyway? I sigh knowing fully well that I would but if someone had told me that weeks ago I’d have laughed because James was nothing more than my father’s bodyguard but now I’m beginning to see him as a friend. A reliable person to count on.
