Chapter 18 James
- A week has gone by since Annie has made it a routine to lock herself up in her room. I am starting to feel bad that I have a hand in whatever her father has cooked up. I hate that I have money in the card I was given and I can’t offer her the money. She only comes out for dinner and that’s the only time I get to see her. Greg introduced me to a friend who offered me a job to work on his farm.
- It’s a good thing he pays daily. We are yet to get a job for Annie which is one of the reasons she has been so distant and her account issue not making any progress isn't helping matters. I know clearly for a fact that her father has a hand in it but how do I tell her her father planned all this. If she finds out eventually, she’ll hate me for life. The thought doesn't sit well with me. I'll like to think we've made progress in our relationship with each other.
- One can easily tell she’s not comfortable that I’m the one getting stuff for both of us. I work double shifts so when I go out in the mornings, I don’t get to see her till evening. I doubt if she leaves the room during the day. I come home to meet the house in the same shape I left it which includes meals I cook before leaving for work. I spoke to a friend of mine earlier today. She promised to speak to her cousin who owns a restaurant. Something tells me she’s doing this because she likes me. Don’t women get the signals men give when they are not interested? I bet she can tell yet she’s persistent with the flirting.
