Chapter 3 Meet Alpha Damon

• The whole castle was silent after the incident that had happened in the afternoon, Dad had deployed armed footmen to stand watch all around the castle. He doubted that Damon and his Pack would strike but he still took protective measures.
• On the castle roof were archers with their bows in hand, while the footmen walked around with their weapons. I was feeling really bad for the insecurity I had caused in the kingdom.
• There was a knock on the door and I could tell that it was mom; I could catch her scent from where I lay.
• “Come in mom,” I said sluggishly.
• She pushed the door open and walked in; she was already in her nightgown. I guess she was about to go to bed.
• “Honey, you are still awake?” she asked and came to stand beside me on the bed.
• I tried to sit up but she stopped me. “It is alright. You don’t need to get up; I just wanted to know if you were alright.”
• “Well I don’t really know how I am feeling mom. I have this weird feeling, like I regret taking that decision. I am not saying that I would have accepted his proposal, because I would never consider that, but maybe I should have rejected it more nicely.”
• “Don’t say that Monica, it is not your fault and I am sure this whole tension would die off in a few days.” Mom said in an assuring voice and sat beside me.
• “And as for the mate proposal that you rejected, Monica… everyone has the right to decide who to be with, even if he was your destined mate, the goddess gave us the option to reject mates which we do not want to be mated to, especially since you are of noble blood.
• You are a princess, not some powerless commoner so you have a right to second choice of mate, but in this case, he is not even your soul mate, so stop blaming yourself, this was none of your fault.” Mom assured me.
• “You are right mom, even if he was my destined mate, I would have still rejected him anyway, I would never be with someone from that awful pack, their presence alone disgusts me.” I said and gave a little smile.
• “You are right sweetheart, but the goddess would never make such a mistake anyway, that man deserves no one like you because you are special.” Mom said and hugged me.
• “Thank you mom, you are the best thing that has happened to me.”
• “Really? So she matters more to you than I do?” Dad asked and walked in through the door.
• “Dad, you know you shouldn’t eavesdrop on female’s conversation,” I whined.
• “Don’t give me that look, I am an Alpha and I could hear you from down the hallway. Also don’t try to change the topic,” he said.
• I laughed softly, “Well I do love you dad, but I love mom too.”
• He held his chest like he was in pain, “Ouch… that really hurt,” he said with a crumpled face.
• “Hahaha, sorry dad… maybe I will love you more in my next life,” I giggled.
• “Well, that is still a long time away, it is not like any of us is dying anytime soon.” He chuckled.
• “Hmm, at least it is worth the wait,” Mom chirped in and we laughed.

• Meanwhile, a man stood by Monica’s back window, eavesdropping on their conversation. It was the same man from Alpha Roland`s house, the very same man that had proposed to her; Alpha Damon of the Bleeding Moon Pack.
• He had sneaked into the castle to know if Monica had changed her mind, or if she regretted rejecting his mate proposal but neither of that had happened.
• He clenched his fist, feeling enraged after hearing the words of the princess. She had rejected him even in his absence, and even if she knew he was her mate, it would have changed nothing. Because she would still have rejected him, knowing fully well that saying those awful words or rejection would only bring pain and emptiness of the soul for both parties.
• If she was willing to hurt herself just to be away from him, he guessed that she despised him a lot which made him angrier. Who was she to decide not to be with him?
• This made him even more infuriated with her, he had planned to get mated to her in order to get revenge on her parents. He wanted to make her suffer, torture her for her unfaithfulness and the evil deeds of her parents, he wanted to make her watch while he punished her parents, just like he watched from a hideout when his own parents were killed by them.
• Although these were what he believed to be the reasons for his actions, but deep down he couldn’t deny that he was scared. He was scared of seeing her with someone else, he was scared of hearing those words of rejection from her. She was still under the impression that his disguise was his real identity, but she had no idea who he really was, nor did she know that he was her destined mate.
• But now, he doubted that he would still stick to his originally intended plan, these people had killed his parents and entire clan, and now their daughter who happens to be his destined mate did not only decide to fall in love with someone else but also rejected his mate proposal.
• Now he would have to take a drastic step, he would have to do something that they would never expect, something that would take her by surprise and leave her in shock.

• He quietly sneaked out of the corner and left the castle, leaving no trace of his presence in the palace. He was certainly going to be back, but the next time he shows up there, the earth will hear his voice and feel his wrath.
