- Mirela's friend was out of the country, according to her daughter, a woman who was approximately her age, preparing a fashion show in New York. Her daughter was substituting for her in her absence. She was energetic, friendly, and upbeat, indicating with the help of two other women who took her measurements, thousands of looks for everyday wear, for work, informal and formal, while talking about herself and eliciting a few confessions from Paulina.
- "I also have my own store," she said. "You can visit it later."
- Mirela laughed. "I can't imagine Paulina there, but who knows."
