Chapter 22 Butterfly And Lantern
- It wasn't the first time he had noticed it, and he wasn't the only one to perceive the deadly attraction. As soon as the lantern crossed the door of the meeting room, the blue eyes of the butterfly followed it eagerly.
- How much closer until it burns? That was the question that dominated Simon's mind. Not much, he supposed, when the butterfly said something that made the lantern light up. Just one more fluttering turn, and its wings would burn in the blazing flame.
- What was going through Nathaniel's butterfly head to melt into smiles for Cherry like that? And what would his fiancée say if he told her? Simon wanted to know her reaction. Not out of malice, just out of curiosity. She probably wouldn't believe him, assuming he was lying to bother her. Even if the truth were blatantly obvious, Simon doubted she would realize it. Paulina's innocence bordered on stupidity when it came to Nathaniel.
