Chapter 43 The Plan
- Annie
- Neither Eve nor I got even a wink of sleep last night. Both of us huddled together on the floor leaning against the farthest wall from the door, right under the window. We kept our eyes on the door the whole time as we sat in agonizing anticipation for what was promised. We both knew that at any moment that door could open and the both of us could be dead before we could even lift a finger against our cruel fate. I have come to discover that there is nothing more terrifying than being at the mercy of another person. I love when it's my husband, but when it is another person it makes my whole body shake with anxiety.
- The both of us barely said more than a few words the whole evening as we sat beside each other in the darkness with only the light from the moon in the window to illuminate the room. Eve hasn't spoken much since her whole ordeal earlier and I haven't wanted to pry into her thoughts because I know they can't possibly be good. The only time she spoke was well into the night.
