Chapter 10 The Concessionaire

• All throughout the night I have the strange sensation that I'm being watched, and that Daniel and I aren't alone, but I try my best to shake it off, attributing it to nerves. This works, but I still find myself snuggling closer to Daniel in the middle of the night. His strong arms wrap around me and I find as much peace as I can, sleeping on and off.
• Daniel and I fuck before he leaves in the morning and he tells me that we have to go to the announcement gala later this evening so I should rest. Considering I didn't get too much sleep the night before, I take him up on his offer. As I'm laying down in bed, a branch scrapes against the window and I nearly jump out of my skin. Baxter, who was laying beside me, jumps to action, seeking out the threat. I reassure him it was nothing and the poor pooch reluctantly goes back to his nap. I think I'm too jumpy because even though Clarita said there was nothing to worry about, I still can't help but worry.
