Chapter 16 The Guard's Post
- Daniel
- I haven't been inside the guard's office since I was a little boy. My brothers and I would always find ourselves in trouble, being the little troublemaker myself, I was often the ring leader. On more than one occasion, I have found myself sitting in the guard's chair as he called my father to come and get me. I remember a specific time when my brothers and I tried to scale the palace wall using vines we found in the garden. Sure enough, they weren't very sturdy, and we almost fell. Poor Michael sprained his ankle--something I doubt he's forgiven me and my crazy schemes for.
- As I enter the guards' quarters, everyone practically jumps to attention. The guards I see chatting at the front desk immediately silence themselves and fix their posture with widened eyes. Its nothing new. I've seen these reactions since I was five years old. Murmurs about the prince are barely audible to my ears but I know they are talking about me.
