Chapter 7 Brain Short-Circuit

  • The phone rang again, and as soon as he picked it up, he heard Travis Pratt's nagging voice. "Bro, where are you?"
  • Travis also went to the party, and he was right next to the commotion just now. Even though the protagonist had left, he couldn't be bothered to socialize. But someone like Joel had been set up, and the other party was quite bold.
  • "Bro, what's the origin of that woman tonight? She's getting so close to Dr. Mason?"
  • Joel's mood had just calmed down, but now it was getting restless again. How could he know what the relationship was?
  • "That back view looked a bit like your ex-wife, but even if she didn't die, she wouldn't come to an event like this. That scheming woman, luckily, was burned to death in a fire..."
  • Travis' mouth couldn't stop running, and when Joel heard his sarcastic words, a layer of frost covered his features. "Did she offend you?"
  • Hearing his impatience, Travis also didn't invite him to drink anymore.
  • Wasn't that the way it was? In the beginning, Gemma didn't want to leave the Summers family and even gave up her face for money. Who in the circle would look up to her?
  • *
  • The commotion at the party spread throughout high society, and although the media didn't capture Gemma, the news was everywhere.
  • Ian took advantage of the situation and arranged for her to enter the headquarters and go straight to the top. Some people in the company had doubts about his actions, but no one dared to come out and question him.
  • If Gemma wanted to hold real power, she couldn't reveal her identity when she first entered. To help her, he transferred his trusted subordinates to her.
  • Not only that, but Ian also allowed her to participate in the company's ongoing major project and personally led her. More people speculated about their relationship, but Gemma didn't care and still went to work with him every day.
  • Probably not many people could guess that the Mason family's young master and she were siblings, one taking their mother's surname and the other their father's.
  • She had already promised her big brother that she would study the company's operations well and be his assistant in the future.
  • Before, their mother's Matrix Group had been managed by Ian's second brother, but his main business was in medicine. This time, he came back to let her take over the business.
  • "Miss Lewis, someone from the Summers family has gone to do public relations. Should we take down the hot search?" Secretary Grant Jacobs came in to ask for instructions.
  • "Hang it for forty-eight hours first."
  • Gemma remembered that the company where Patricia was working seemed to be filming a big movie, and she had already been confirmed as the female lead.
  • "That little fresh meat who acted with her - is his contract expiring soon?"
  • "What's wrong?"
  • She smiled and said, "Jane likes that little fresh meat."
  • "Hello."
  • The office door was pushed open, and Leticia Owen walked in and gave Gemma a big hug, looking around.
  • "You didn't even look for me when you came back; you're heartless. I've been thinking about you all this time."
  • "I was just about to call you, and you came instead." Gemma patted her back. "I've missed you too."
  • Ian rubbed Gemma's hair and knew they had a lot to talk about. "I have a meeting to attend; you two go eat first."
  • As they walked and talked, Leticia's face turned gloomy as soon as they entered the restaurant. It ruined her appetite. Faith and Jane were also there.
  • "Mom, it's that woman who bullied Pat. She's seducing the Mason family's young master and managed to get into this high-end event."
  • Jane was sour, and when she went to the banquet, she took a picture and sent it to her with a vivid description that same night.
  • When the two walked by, she intentionally stretched out her foot to trip Gemma. However, Gemma kicked back without even looking down.
  • Jane was in pain and slammed the table. "Can't you watch where you're going? You stepped on my foot! Where's your manager? They let anyone in here; I want to complain!"
  • She complained loudly, feeling dissatisfied that she was not invited to the party. She couldn't show her face, and even a web celebrity stole the show, causing Patricia to lose her face. She was so jealous that she wanted to scratch Gemma's beautiful face.
  • The restaurant was a members-only establishment, and ordinary people couldn't enter. The manager didn't dare to offend any customers and quickly came over to apologize.
  • "You let any Tom, Dick, and Harry in here; it's lowering our status! I pay 200,000 dollars in membership fees every year for nothing!" Jane looked at Gemma's beautiful face with envy, wishing she could scratch it.
  • The manager turned around and saw that he knew the daughter of the Owen family, and although the person next to her was unfamiliar, she was stunning and had a noble and elegant temperament. She looked at them coldly without any embarrassment.
  • Thinking of the call from his boss, he hurried over and said very respectfully, "Ladies, this way, please."
  • Jane couldn't hear what he was saying, but the spot the manager pointed to was the VIP room, which she couldn't enter. She looked at Leticia and Gemma and went over to stop them.
  • Faith was full of arrogance. She had heard the wealthy ladies gossip about the party and was contemptuous of this woman, who had suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
  • "Miss Owen, I advise you to be careful in choosing your friends. You take a good phoenix and make friends with a wild chicken; aren't you afraid of losing face for the Owen family?"
  • "The one who should be careful is you," Gemma sneered, her imposing manner even more intimidating. "Using vulgar language in public is undignified."
  • Faith's face turned red, and she was so angry that she stomped her feet. "Who are you to dare to talk back to me? You are all dead; why don't you get out of here?"
  • The manager coughed and said sternly, "Mrs. Summers and Miss Summers if you continue to make trouble, I'll have to ask you to leave."
  • Jane and her mother were stunned and cursed, shouting that they wanted to withdraw their membership fee. Gemma looked coldly at them and said, "Take them backstage to handle it."
  • The two were stunned; their expressions were colorful. Jane shouted, "Do you know who I am? What gives you the right!?"
  • "Just because the restaurant belongs to her!" Leticia was angry and wished she could beat them up.
  • "So what?" Faith was still sitting there, looking arrogant. "I warn you, no matter who you associate with, if you offend me, you'll regret it!"
  • Gemma smiled faintly, her eyes even colder. Her ex-mother-in-law and sister-in-law were as annoying as ever.
  • "Are you scared? Kneel and apologize, and I'll consider not pursuing it."
  • "Just kneeling won't do; they need to slap themselves," Jane added fuel to the fire.
  • Gemma smiled and said to the manager, "Get them out of here."
  • "Bold!"
  • When Faith tried to slap Gemma, she instinctively moved to the side and copied what Jane had done earlier, lifting her foot. Faith stumbled and fell, pulling down the tablecloth with her. The food and soup spilled all over her body.
  • Jane screamed and wanted to go up and pull her hair. Gemma pushed her down onto the chair and then slowly poured a bottle of red wine over her head.
  • "Clean your mouth properly, and while you're at it, clean out the nonsense in your brain."
  • Faith had never been so embarrassed before and kept cursing, "You slut, are you crazy to treat me like this!?"
  • The security guards came to clear the scene and dragged her out. Gemma and Leticia didn't look back, and they followed the manager to the VIP room.
  • "What a weirdo; the Summers family only produces such talents," Leticia said angrily.
