Chapter 22 The King of the Dark Night

  • As they walked, Cecilia chatted with them about interesting stories from the fashion industry. She immediately changed her demeanor when talking about her brand. "Our national style collection from last season was especially well-received. It was popular even in Europe and Asia. I think we should capitalize on this and arrange a big show!"
  • "Do you need any models? I can help promote your collections for free, as long as I can partner up with Gemma," Michael said, as he used one hand to play with his bangs that were almost covering his eyes. His eyes were too clear and alluring, and the half-shadow cast by his eyelids made him look like a cute doll.
  • "We can't afford you," Cecilia said with a wink as she went up to hug Mark, who had been waiting upstairs for a while.
  • Gemma smiled and shook her head. "Can your family agree to you appearing in public? Especially your mother; she is most concerned about these kinds of things."
  • "I can already do some leading roles now." Michael puffed his cheeks.
  • After greeting everyone and sitting down, there were dice and cards on the table. When Leticia saw them, she got excited and clamored to play two rounds to warm up.
  • "Are you not afraid of losing again? Have you forgotten how they tricked you last time?" Cecilia teased.
  • "Master Michael, what a coincidence!" Travis said as soon as he went up and saw several familiar faces. Although there was not much interaction between them, they had seen each other in the business world. Michael picked up the wine glass on the table and raised it, just saying "What a coincidence" to Travis, while Joel ignored him.
  • Mark, on the other hand, looked at Joel with a meaningful smile. When Travis saw that they were all sitting together, he didn't care whether they were willing or not and just sat down.
  • "Can I play two rounds? And can I bring my friend along, Master Michael?" Travis asked. Mark wanted to ask Gemma for her opinion, but he turned around and found that she was gone. He thought she might have hidden to avoid Joel.
  • Suddenly, a melodious song came from the stage. The woman's voice was alluring and ambiguous, coupled with the seductive saxophone music. It was mesmerizing. The tune was like a retro style from the 90s, and the woman's silky voice seemed to be able to immerse people in a beautiful dream.
  • Gemma was leisurely and carefree on stage, and Joel was stunned. He didn't expect her singing to be this good. During the time he was bedridden, she would read to him every day, and he never got tired of it. He only thought her voice was nice and that she had a good sense of rhythm, but he never expected her singing to be so beautiful.
  • Michael had a faint smile at the corner of his mouth and a look full of disdain while watching the stage. Leticia couldn't stand it, so she dragged Cecilia somewhere else. When Joel came back to his senses, he met Michael's provocative gaze.
  • "Is Master Michael familiar with Vice President Gem?" Travis asked.
  • "What's it to you?" He turned his head and snorted coldly.
  • "Master Michael, don't be fooled. Internet celebrities are powerful nowadays. Have you not seen someone named Ivy? She had child after child and conned people out of billions," Travis said.
  • "Travis!" Joel interrupted him with a cold face.
  • "Who are you calling an internet celebrity?" Michael's face straightened as he looked at Travis in an unfriendly manner. "What did Gemma do to trick you? Do you even know her before you open your mouth?"
  • "Gemma?" Travis was stunned by his retort, and he remembered what Joel had said about "Vice President Gemma." He hesitated and asked, "Gemma Lewis?" He almost blurted out, "Didn't Gemma Lewis die?" but seeing that everyone at the table was not to be trifled with, he didn't dare to say it.
  • But that doesn't make sense. He had seen Joel's ex-wife before, and she was not the same person at all. Travis felt a little frustrated and felt like his brain wasn't making enough sense.
  • Suddenly, the music on stage changed direction, and the booming electronic music echoed throughout the bar, pushing the atmosphere to its peak.
