Chapter 5

  • “I hope I reached Ms. Karina Carson. My boss said to let you know that he waited for you for over twenty minutes and you didn’t show up so the business is off and that you should not contact him again as he no longer wants to work with your company,”
  • Karina’s heart fell to her stomach as she listened to the call. because of everything that happened, she somehow forgot why she had been at the hotel in the first place.
  • “No, please, can I speak to Mr. Alec? I am sure there is a way to fix this. Something came up and I couldn’t be there, I was at the hotel but something happened,”
  • Karina tried to explain but the call ended.
  • “Fuck, fuck, fuck, No, no, no,”
  • Karina cried as she tried to open the door but the car was still locked. She turned to the stranger.
  • “Please let me go, I, oh my God, this is bad, fuck,”
  • She cried.
  • “As much as I want to let you go. I can’t until you do what I want.”
  • “Fine,”
  • Karina yelled and took the phone from him. She hurriedly typed in her phone number and gave it back to him. He dialed it and smiled when it rang. Karina wanted to punch him in the face.
  • “Can you let me go now?”
  • She cried. The car finally opened and she practically jumped out and ran towards the hotel waiting area where she was supposed to be meeting her client.
  • “Oh, no,”
  • She cried when she saw the vacant seat. She fell to the ground as fresh tears gathered in her eyes. Nothing was working for her today. Her phone buzzed with an incoming message and she saw that it was a strange number. She realized who it was after she checked the content. She ignored it and checked the other messages that she had missed. Even calls. The client had texted her when he arrived and even called her but she didn’t pick up. she couldn’t believe how today turned out to be. She couldn’t accept it. She stood up and walked towards the elevator of the hotel again.
  • She already lost her biggest client because of them. It was only right that she heard what they had to say.
  • “Ma’am, I am sorry but we have been ordered to escort you out of the hotel because you created a scene earlier and it disturbed our guests.”
  • Karina turned to look at the security. Surely, they knew who she was. She has been at the hotel a lot of times over the past year and she literally had her engagement party at the hotel event center a couple of months ago.
  • “I am Nick’s fiancée, you know who I am,”
  • Karina let out. the man nodded with a sad look as the other tried not to meet her gaze.
  • “Sorry, Ma’am, the order is from sir, Nick, he wants you to be escorted out of the hotel. We are only doing our job, please just listen,”
  • Karina couldn’t believe it. Nick really gave an order for them to throw her out.
  • “He said that? Are you sure?”
  • She asked. She blinked back the tears as she didn’t want to look pitiful more than she already was.
  • “Yes, ma’am,”
  • The security man said. Karina couldn’t fault him because like he said, he and the other guys were only doing their job.
  • “Sure, I will leave,”
  • She said, She turned back to the entrance and walked in a daze out of the hotel. She found a cab and got in. while in the cab. She tried to call the client multiple times but her calls went straight to voicemail and then she tried to call Nick but he didn’t take her calls.
  • “Calm down, Karina.”
  • She said as fresh tears gathered in her eyes. The event of the past hour playing over and over again in her mind. She didn’t even know what to do. She was supposed to be happy. Everything was supposed to finally work out for her. Nick was her getaway plan. Her chance at living as a person but he had to go cheat on her. not just cheat. He did it with her sister and fucking asked the security to throw her out.
  • Everything happened three days before their wedding. Three days. just fucking three days. people were already arriving in the country from different parts of the world. Everything was ready. Everything. She just needed to look at her venue decorations one last time and that was what she had been waiting for early today. She blinked back tears and checked the caller when her phone rang.
  • “Hello?”
  • Karina whispered, trying not to let her emotions get the best of her.
  • “Ms. Karina?”
  • “Yes, this is Karina Carson, wh-“
  • She choked on unshed tears.
  • “This is the secretary of Mr. Benjamin. You guys met yesterday,”
  • Yes,”
  • Karina responded and sat up. her heart sank when the secretary spoke again. her day just got even worse than it already was.
  • “I am sorry to say this but my boss wants me to let you know that he will not be working with your company on this project,”
  • “No, there has to be a mistake somewhere, Mr. Benjamin already gave me the project, we even signed a contract yesterday,”
  • Karina tried to explain.
  • “Yes, but according to the contract, he has forty-eight hours to back out and he did within twenty-four hours. We are sorry, Ms. Carson but we won’t be doing business with you this time,”
  • There was nothing Karina could do. She didn’t know what made the client change his mind but his secretary was right. Karina let out a sigh when the call ended. She couldn’t believe everything was turning against her today; of all day. Three days to her wedding. She doubted there would even be a wedding at this point because Nick saw her in the hotel and told them to send her away. She still couldn’t wrap her head around why he would do such a wicked thing to her.
  • “Ma’am, where am I taking you to?”
  • The cab driver asked. Karina didn’t want to go home yet. She would only be sad plus she didn’t want to go face her stepmother. Also, she wasn’t in the right frame of mind to go to work.
