Chapter 4
- “Let me go. That’s my fiancée and my sister. I need to know why they would do something like that to me. Why would Nick cheat on me?”
- His hold on her loosened at her words but he didn’t let her go completely, she tried to get out of the elevator but the door closed before she could.
- “Nick is your fiancée? You are marrying that loser?”
- He asked. Karina turned to him.
- “Yes, and he is not a loser,”
- Karina voiced through her tears.
- “Really? Are you defending him? you literally just caught him cheating on you with what? Your sister?”
- His words sent another sting of pain down her body. She was still in denial. She couldn’t believe it. Maybe Nick was drunk and Ava was throwing herself at him again. She needed to speak to him. She wiped her eyes and waited for the elevator to arrive on the ground floor. She waited for the man to exit so that she could go back but instead of exiting alone. He took her hand and dragged her with him.
- “Let me go, I need to speak with Nick. I need to know what happened.”
- She told him but he didn’t listen. He continued dragging her all the way out of the hotel lobby and into the private car park. She knew the private car park because that’s where Nick usually parks his car. She saw Nick’s car and the car that Ava had taken.
- “Aaargh,”
- Karina screamed in pain. If she had any doubt again. The cars were proof. Not like she had any doubts. She saw them with her own eyes. They saw her too.
- “Let me go, please,”
- Karina yelled as the strange man dragged her to a waiting car. He didn’t listen and tossed her into the car. He locked the door so that she couldn’t get out as he quickly rounded the corner and got into the driver's seat. She tried to get out when he got in but he was faster than her.
- “Where are you taking me to? Why are you doing this to me?”
- Karina cried in pain.
- “You ruined my suit, you have to pay for it and aside from that, what do you think you would do when you go and meet them? Scream? Create more scenes? Is that what you want to do? Do you really think that would change anything? It would only be you embarrassing yourself. I saw Nick, and he saw us, if he felt remorseful, he didn’t show it, and knowing that loser, he doesn’t feel remorseful at all. they got cozy even when they knew you saw them. Unless you don’t want to admit it,”
- He said. everything he was saying was the truth but that didn’t matter. She still needed to see Nick and ask him what changed. What happened? Why did he give in now just three days to their wedding when he has been telling her about how he turns down Ava’s advances?
- “I still need to talk to him,”
- Karina said, wiping her eyes.
- “Well, if that’s what you want then can I have your contact information? I need to be able to contact you to get my money for the suit that you ruined. It cost me fifty thousand dollars.”
- He said and shoved his phone at Karina who stared at him in disbelief. Why would a suit cost fifty thousand?
- “You are joking, right? Why would a suit cost that much? I don’t have that kind of money,”
- Karina yelled. Okay, she does have the money but she couldn’t just send him fifty thousand. It was crazy.
- “Do I look like I am joking? I mean we are not even in a situation where we can joke. The only way for you to leave is either to pay me fifty thousand right now or give me your contact so that I can arrange an installment payment. I paid a hundred thousand for the suit, I am letting you pay fifty because I was the one that came to this fucked up hotel when I shouldn’t have.”
- He said in a very serious voice. Karina knew he wasn’t joking.
- “I can’t pay that kind of money. I can take the suit for you and have a dry cleaner work on it. I am sure it can be fixed,”
- Karina suggested. He glared at her. The man was handsome. Even more handsome than Nick and Nick was really very handsome. His looks were the first that she noticed about him before he spoke to her. This man was ten or a hundred times more good-looking looking and he had a great physique. If he wasn’t such a jerk, she would have been fascinated but he was a jerk and she wasn’t in the mood to admire a good-looking man, not when she literally just caught her husband to be in a hotel with her stepsister. It all still felt like a dream. Maybe she was dreaming after all because why else would she be in a car with a man she didn’t know and he was trying to get her to pay a ridiculous amount for his suit just because coffee spilled on it?
- “No dry cleaner can fix this,”
- He said, pointing at the huge mess the coffee made. He was right but who wears white suits these days?
- “You can’t tell me you don’t have money. You are marrying Nick Sinclair and not just that, you are Karina Carson, your family, and Nick’s family are too loaded for you not to have money so don’t lie in my face.”
- He told her. Karina was shocked at the fact that he knew her name and her family. It was okay for him to know Nick because he was literally in Nick’s family hotel but knowing her? and her family? She barely makes any public appearances and barely makes the news, unlike her stepmother, father, and stepsister. For him to know her then he must know a lot.
- “How do you know me?”
- She questioned. As her phone started buzzing, she brought it out while waiting for him to answer her question. As he didn’t, she took the call.
