Chapter 403

  • Pedro let out a sharp groan as a heavy wooden beam crashed onto his already injured back. A fresh wave of pain shot through him, and he was certain his wounds had reopened, but he had no time to worry about that. His gaze shifted to Aida, who was staring at him with teary eyes, her face filled with worry.
  • "Hey, don't cry. I'm fine," he reassured her, forcing a small smile despite knowing full well that he wasn’t. His vision was blurring at the edges, and he could feel the darkness creeping in. His body was growing weaker, the remnants of the drug in his system still rendering him powerless. He tried to push the wooden beam off himself, to stand up, but his limbs refused to cooperate. He was trapped, but he knew help would come—at least, he hoped it would.
  • "Pedro..." Aida’s voice trembled as she called his name, barely above a whisper.
