  • Aida’s fury erupted like a storm. She grabbed Uncle Noel by the collar and slammed him against the pillar, her grip tightening dangerously around his throat. His face turned pale, then a sickly shade of blue as he struggled to breathe. Despite the pain and suffocation, he dared not fight back. He had seen her rage before, but never like this.
  • "What do you mean you don’t know what’s going on in his head?" she spat, her voice sharp and venomous. Her fingers dug into his collar, cutting off his air supply even more.
  • "I—I’m not a mind reader! How would I know what he’s thinking?" Uncle Noel choked out, gasping for air.
