Chapter 81

• Becky was exhausted. It had been a rollercoaster of a day and she could barely keep her eyes open as she lay next to Abby and listened to Barry read her a bedtime story. Being back in Barry’ home felt so comfortable and easy and although she knew it probably wouldn’t last, for that night she was content to just enjoy it.
• A gentle shaking of her shoulder woke her, and she smiled sleepily up at Barry. The look in his eyes was dark and intense and warmed something low in her belly. He scooped her up in her arms and held her close for a minute. Her arms snaked around his neck and she buried her nose into the crook of his neck, inhaling his Paco Rabanne scent and that distinctly male Barry smell.
• “Let’s get you to bed,” he said, his voice a husky whisper that skittered across the shell of her ear, his hot, moist breath causing a shiver to go through her.
