• For the first time since the accident, Becky felt safe. Barry’ long, strong arms were around her and he cradled her to his firm chest. She could smell the fresh scent of his Paco Rabanne fragrance and the warmth of his skin as it permeated her, finally warming the ice that had taken up residence in her bones since the accident that could have been so much worse.
• He murmured comforting words to her as he gently rocked her in his arms and she closed her eyes and let herself relax. She went over and over what had happened in the car and wondered if there had been something she could have done to prevent it. Had she been too distracted? She would never have been able to forgive herself if something had happened to Abby.
