Chapter 55

• He unplugged and surveyed the space. He appreciated how his daughter had established herself at home. With the possible exception of having her nanny in his bed, she had seamlessly blended into his life and he couldn't have asked for anything more. Maybe he would benefit from some time apart from Becky. Maybe spending a night with an unidentified lady would help him de-stress and stop jumping on Becky whenever he saw her. He needed some breathing room to calm his burning libido.
• But the idea left a bad taste in his mouth. He had never been the kind to repeatedly have one-night encounters. When he required it, he occasionally engaged in a mutually advantageous sexual relationship with a woman, but he wasn't the wild playboy that Jonathan was. He was not at all interested in picking up some anonymous girl at a bar, especially when he lived with the delicious Becky. However, Becky was forbidden. For Abby's sake, he had to leave her alone, regardless of how much he wanted her.
• He marched down the stairs and out of the room. In order to save Freddie from the mess he'd got himself into, he had to get to the office and see if Patricia could help him arrange his life for the next two weeks. He and Becky would both benefit from the break that would allow Abby to be okay with her and maintain their professional connection. He was aware that a few stolen kisses and an erotic peep show wouldn't be the end of things if they spent any more time together. Becky and he were headed for a collision, and he had to use every resource at his disposal to lessen the harm. In order to save himself from ruining their entire life, he would go halfway around the globe to put some distance between them.
