Chapter 70

• Barry looked down at the ‘food’ on his plate and sighed. It was enough to make him want to pick it up and throw it at the wall… or the woman sitting across from him. Heather had spoken to Mrs. Garrett and had convinced the woman they could only eat red meat once a week and the rest of the time they were vegetarian. Potatoes, sweet corn, rice, and pasta were also off the menu and he had been eating green vegetables and fucking tofu all week. He was so goddamned pissed, and hungry, that he almost couldn’t see straight. Thank god the coffee machine was plumbed into the cabinetry, because he knew that if it wasn’t, Heather would’ve found a way to deny him its life-giving nectar as well.
• His lawyers had advised him to play nice. He had to prove that he was twice as good a parent to even have a look at being awarded sole custody. It didn’t seem to matter that she had practically abandoned their daughter when she went off in a snit after Adam dumped her, she was still the mother. So he had put up with her little games, but god help him if he didn’t get a decent meal soon he would put his fucking fist through the wall.
