Chapter 31
- In the growing dusk, Cassie opened her eyes and blinked. She had never engaged in angry sex before, but she would not be opposed to doing so in the future. Brian had taken entire control of her, possessing her in a manner that no other man—not even Nathan—had. She had previously believed that her relationship with Nathan was the best, but now she realized it was only the beginning. The sentiments she harbored for Nathan paled in comparison to her feelings for Brian.
- It ought to terrify her. She wasn't freaking out about how he was taking over every aspect of her life, even though she should have been. She felt liberated from the weight of expectations for the first time in her life. She was free to be herself while they were together. Basic. No demands. Nothing to expect.
- Cassie's life has been centered around proving others incorrect for so long. Her parents had never set high standards for her, telling her not to get her hopes up but to settle for mediocrity instead. She had made it her duty to disprove them. She wanted them to finally acknowledge that she was more than mediocre.
