Chapter 7

  • Alexia was still pissed at the fact that the day had not good as pleasant as she had planned. None of the things she planned to do in order to elevate her spirit had worked out. After waking up to such a bad encounter with Dane, she thought of the best thing to do to help her stay sane. But of course, her mother in law chose that moment to be the best time to bring about what every Belmont lady must do.
  • It was from one complain to another. It got so bad that she wondered if she was suddenly a prisoner, living as a caged bird.
  • And her day got ruined from the beginning all because of Dane.
  • How could a man be as heartless as he had been that morning? She wondered.
  • “Phew!” She was just too exhausted for someone who didn't even get to work as hard as she wanted for the day.
  • After stopping her from doing that which she had planned to do with herself and time, Mrs Belmont, her mother in law had to make her rehearse a speech to present to their guests during the dinner party.
  • And sadly, that was all she did all day, with a lot of corrections coming alongside it. Funny enough, the corrections were not worth it. Or, that was just how a woman like her thought.
  • What frustrated Alexia the most was her mother in law's complaints. It was either she was wrong with the way she stood, the way she spoke, her tone, and even her body movement. No poise, no grace.
  • “Goodness!” Alexia almost screamed as she tried her best to ward off the unhealthy thoughts from her head.
  • It was just another night like the previous one. However, there was a difference this night. Thanks to a devious man she got married to, she was now in her new room.
  • Probably it was for the best. If she wanted to stay sane, far away from Dane, she truly needed to stay far from him.
  • Unlike the last time in the room with Dane, there was no man to caress her, nor make love to her. Even while she thought of it, she felt her body yearning for his touch. Something she was equally scared and confused about.
  • And for the first time in such a long time, she felt herself wet underneath.
  • “Shit!” she cursed. This was one of the things she termed unholy for someone of her calibre. No man had ever made her feel that way.
  • Without any further hesitation, Alexia quickly ran out of her room to clean herself in the bathroom.
  • In a few minutes, she was done, and she walked back into her room.
  • Dane.
  • The thought of him continued. However, this wasn't just about how sweet he made her feel. In fact, she had decided that she could no longer trust him. There were so many things about him that served as a turn off for her.
  • One minute he was making love with her, begging to have her all to himself as he plunged himself into her, filling her insides. And the next minute, he was sending her out of his room.
  • What on earth could she do to stay off him completely? She wondered. Was the step she was about to take towards that the best? What if she ends up loosing him?
  • “If you're scared of loosing him, then you're totally in love.” Her subconscious reminded her.
  • Sadly, this was never the kind of marriage she had signed for.
  • “Were you in support of this marriage in the first place?” My subconscious suddenly popped up another question.
  • And she was forced to go back in time to where it all started.
  • Truly, she had disapproved of the marriage to Dane. She didn't even get to meet him until the time and day of their wedding. The series of even after they got married was not one she could place as something satisfying. All in all, she wasn't in her dream marriage. As it stood too, she couldn't help but think of him as a cheat. Not after she had seen him with Ciara.
  • Dane wasbt back yet. Did he close so late from work? Or, could it be that he had gone to meet Ciara?
  • A part of her couldn't help but think of Ciara as his side chick. Probably she was the one he loved because she looked too classy to be a harlot.
  • On the other hand, she didn't want to be too fast.
  • “Oh, God.” She groaned, and fell flat on her bed.
  • If she was sad and hurt from everything that was going on with her currently, the only set of people she would put the blame on was her parents. Right after she left for her new home, her mother was the only one who called her once. Nothing came from her father. Not that she was even expecting anything from him.
  • At that moment as she thought of them, she wondered how they were faring already. It hurt her a great deal that she had to be used as a tool of business. Surely, she had expected more from her father. When did they suddenly become beggars?
  • And then. She thought about the company. Has everything gone back to how her father wanted it? Although she knew it wouldn't happen so fast.
  • But amidst all of this, Alexia had but one important thing to think about. And that was about what she was going to do with her life. There was no way sitting at home, doing nothing, but following the rules of behaving like a Belmont lady resonated to her. She needed to get her hands on deck. She had dreams. She was a ambitious woman, and she needed to walk towards that.
  • But how could she make way for that? Her first obstacle was her mother in law.
  • “Alexia.” She suddenly heard, and sat up only to see Dane standing right in front of her.
  • “What the hell!” Her hand went to her chest in fear. “What are you doing here?” She questioned suddenly recalling that they no longer shared the same room.
  • “I just couldn't.” He began, his eyes fixed on her, and at the same time he took closer steps towards her.
  • “What are you talking about?”
  • That had been a question that deserved a response. But instead, Alexia got a kiss. Even while she pushed him off, he didn't back down. He dragged her to himself and deepened the kiss until she could no longer fight.
