Chapter 4

  • Since the driver had decided that he couldn't take her to where her supposedly husband was, Alexia decided to find her way after finding out the location. According to the driver, his Bois, Dane, had given him strict orders not to bring her anywhere close to where he was. And that was evidence enough to dear Alexia that there was a skeleton in his cupboard.
  • While she had that going on, Alexia still couldn't get over the thought of what her sister in law had said to her.
  • “Don't have any hopes of Dane loving you back.”
  • For some reason, it was troubling. She always had the believe that when someone said something about her, it was because they saw it on her.
  • So, could it be that she was showing signs of expecting love from Dane?
  • “Never! Unbelievable.” Alexia scoffed.
  • Definitely, that was the last thing she wanted at the moment. He just wasn't the right man, or her dream man.
  • “I'll stop right here.” She said to the driver the moment she found out she was close enough to her destination.
  • Just as he was told, the driver stopped, and she alighted from the cab, and watched it drive away.
  • Right after breakfast, Alexia decided it was best she went back into her room as she had nothing to do. In the process of turning aimlessly around her bed, she felt something harder than her bedsheet rub off onto her dress. Immediately, she sat on her bed and tried to find out what the object could be.
  • It was a paper, with a note. The content written on it was clear enough for her to know that it was from Dane. But, why had she not seen it from the time she left her room for breakfast?
  • She was able to find his exact apartment. That was all thanks to Lily.
  • Of a truth, she wasn't supposed to bother herself about wherever he went to, or whatever he did. But Alexia being so adamant couldn't put off the curiosity on why he would just leave her after their wedding night, and even when their honeymoon was still on.
  • “Or, am I pushing it too far? Does this mean I'm really worried he might get stolen from me? Should that even be a bother to me in the first place?” She stopped the moment she got to the door to Dane's apartment.
  • Her hands were still pressed on the handle while she thought hard about what she was about to do. What if he was not in? Probably he had gone to work from there.
  • After much thought, Alexia found her herself turn back. She couldn't summon enough courage to go in.
  • However, just when she was about to take a final step out, she heard the sound of an object which had fallen to the ground. She stopped in her track and turned right ahead, taking her steps back towards the door.
  • Now, that was an evidence that someone was in. Without thinking twice about it, she pushed the door open. The first sight she beheld was a pair of eyes.
  • “Who are you?” The question popped out of her lips while her suspicious eyes scanned the half naked lady who was standing right in front of her with a bottled water.
  • “I'm Ciara.” The lady answered with so much confidence. Alexia couldn't stop her eyes which were roaming through her body. She was putting on a black tight with just her bra on. Her curves were so out in the open that Alexia could already feel the anger, pain, and jealousy mix up together.
  • “Do you realize that you're in a married man's house, dressed like that?” Alexia found herself asking. She had a lot of words to spill, but the thoughts that pried her head couldn't let her.
  • Ciara only passed her a smirk, folding her arms against she breasts.
  • “Babe, we should -” Dane's voice was heard as he walked into their midst. While Ciara still stared at Alexia, Alexia turned to Dane. Anger and disappointment flashing through her eyes.
  • “Babe?” She almost cried. “Is this what you do, Dane?” She questioned, disbelief rolling in her voice. She felt the pain almost choke her as she stared at him.
  • “Tell me. Was this what you meant in your letter when you said you have no interest in living under the same roof with me? Because you now have a side chick?” Alexia went on.
  • “I'm not his side chick. I'm his rightful -”
  • “Ciara.” Dane was quick enough to stop her from going further.
  • “You.” Alexia turned to Ciara immediately. “I want you out of this apartment right now. You have no business with my husband.” She pointed. Instead of a response, Ciara hissed, and walked back into the room immediately. But not before glaring back at Alexia.
  • “What - did she just walk back in? Wow. Unbelievable.”
  • Dane rushed towards Alexia, gripping her forcefully by the hands while her bag fell to the ground.
  • “What the hell are you doing here? Who let you in about here? And what right do you have to come here without letting me know?” He barked at her.
  • “Let go of me.” She yelled at him and freed herself from his grip. “None of this matters now you moron!” She yelled again.
  • “What? Did you just call me a moron?” Dane moved closer, staring at her disdainfully.
  • “Aren't you ashamed of yourself? If you knew you were going to cheat, why did you accept to marry me? You shouldn't have. You should have let me be free to live my life, and have my dream home. But hell no. You fucked up billionaires always want to have their way.” She said, and walked out angrily. Even before he could provide a response.
  • Dane watched her leave until she banged the door the moment she got out. Surprisingly, he found a part of him feeling a sense of guilt at the scenario that had just played right in front of him. The pain she felt was clearly visible even in her words. But, he didn't want to believe he was ever wrong.
  • **********
  • The journey back home was a swift one. The only hard and slow process was the tears that couldn't stop trickling down her cheeks even when she got into the Mansion.
  • “You're back so quick.” Lily's voice came out suddenly the moment she walked into the living room.
  • Immediately, she began to wipe away her tears. Unfortunately, Lily had seen it.
  • “You both had a fall out?” Lily asked as she walked closer to her.
  • “I saw him with another woman.” Alexia cried out, the unstoppable tears still rolling out.
  • Lily could only let out a deep sigh for a while. It was so sad that Alexia had to experience it so early. Although she felt a pang of guilt. She should have made her warning clear enough so that Alexia could prepare for the worst.
  • “I'm sorry you had to see that.” Lily finally spoke. “But, I believe it has happened. You don't have to beat yourself up.”
  • “Well, for some reason unknown to me yet, it hurts.” Alexia sniffed as she kept on wiping the tears.
  • “Hmm.” Lily paused to think for a while. “You know what?” Alexia turned to look at her immediately. “Dane is my brother. But like I warned you the first time, I'll say it again. You shouldn't let him crush your will to be happy. As it stands now, you have to do what makes you happy. Let the young man be for a while.” Lily concluded.
  • “I haven't even figured anything about myself. Or, whatever it is that I might need to do to make me happy.” Alexia answered.
  • “The first step to this is simple.” Lily smiled. “Lets go shopping.”
