Chapter 37 On The Cloud Nine

  • It was a plate of pasta and steak Damon cooked. As soon as he placed those dishes and he laid them into my eyes, my mouth watered. He then sat in front of me and forked a steak, sliced it into strips and when he was done, he handed me the plate. He always does that every time we eat steak. I knew it was a simple gesture yet every time Damon did it, my heart was beating erratically against my chest.
  • “Let's dig in," he said when he was done slicing his steak and placing a scoop of pasta on both of our plates. “Eat a lot, the dessert is still in the fridge." And then he pointed to the fridge.
  • As he has said, I dig into my food, and only the sound of our utensils can be heard entire didn't room. I remained silent, he as well. As if we are both waiting for who will open a conversation first. But I have nothing to say though so I eat silently. And when Damon seems to be not enduring the deafening silence, he breaks it.
