Chapter 43 Aspa

Alaric’s words shocked Mariah that she had thought he was joking, but when she saw the longing in his eyes, she couldn’t believe it. What could have happened, who could have turned them into ice sculptures? She wanted to voice her questions but Alaric started walking away and she followed him. He walked towards what looked like a frozen palace and there was a frozen dragon in front of it. He paused in front of the dragon and Mariah did the same too. She watched him, not wanting to interfere in his moment but also filled with questions.
Alaric reached up and caressed the spread wing of the dragon softly. He closed his eyes and whispered, “Father, I have returned.”
Mariah glanced at the dragon sharply, he was his father? Questions were eating her but she knew that if Alaric brought her there, it meant he wanted to share what happened with her, so she could only be patient. She followed him to the frozen palace and watched as he blew fire on the door, melting the ice. Her eyes widened and she felt a sense of joy that maybe, just maybe, he could unfreeze everyone as well.
