• Mariah watched Alaric in awe, never had she anticipated such apology from him and definitely not so soon or any time in fact. She was speechless, not knowing the best way to disclose her happiness.
• “And see how wrong I am,” Alaric continued, still on his knees and his head bowed. “I never really thanked you for saving me. You are the reason I am here. If you had not come that day, I would still be buried on that mountain. You did not have to come save me when I called you, but you did. And I was ungrateful. Please, Mariah, you do not have to see me as a friend or stop hating me, but I do wish you shall forgive me.”
• Mariah smiled. “I forgive you.”
