Chapter 73 Afternoon

  • Max woke up startled. That sixth sense that used to warn her when she was in danger felt like a siren, screaming inside her. She got up silently and took out the gun she had under the bed, but not before putting on that graphene vest.
  • She loaded and cocked the gun trying not to make any noise and walked through the narrow corridors of the dungeon in absolute silence. There was no one, yet she didn't feel at ease. She approached one of the trapdoors and didn't take long to hear footsteps outside. It was night, and in the three months she had been there, no one had been lurking around.
  • Birsay was not a village with teenagers sneaking out to drink away from their parents' sight, so that could only mean one thing: they had found her.
