Chapter 24 Where Have You Been?

• Max was more worried than she let on. As she drove towards the house, she tried to determine how much strength she had regained after being bedridden for several days due to an illness. Her muscles still ached, but she had adrenaline pumping and that definitely helped.
• She parked the car outside the property and traced the point where the silent alarm had been activated. She pulled out her gun and entered the house, noticing that the forced lock on the laundry room was barely noticeable.
• She moved silently, recognizing each room, when she felt a blow on her arms from above as she entered one, causing her to drop her gun. She felt a hand on her neck, too large to be a woman's, and the force with which she was pushed against the wall confirmed that it was a man.
