They sat her at a table and placed a small cheese sandwich in front of her. Max was hungry, so she tried with all her might to take a few bites, because without that, she knew she wouldn't be able to defend herself when the time came.
• The only lamp in the room focused on the table, but Max could see the shadows moving near the walls of the huge room. She recognized an interrogation when she was part of one, she just wondered what damn information they would try to extract from her.
