Chapter 12 Petra's Plans

• Early in the morning, Mercedes again requests a meeting with Lilith, but the guards inform her that Lilith had to leave the estate to attend to some matters in the capital.
• After much contemplation and unable to bear the uncertainty, with some apples stuffed in her stockings, the nanny walks hastily through the corridors leading to the lower part of the house, where the cells are located.
• This house is very large, nothing compared to the Valencias', but thanks to some servants who gave her directions, she finally manages to reach the lowest part, the basement.
