Chapter 102 She Will Go To The House

  • On the estate, Adelaide is busy cleaning her garden. Ever since her husband assigned her and their daughter to this place, she herself harvests the vegetables she uses for their meals and raises some chickens that some of the peasants gave them after they moved. These have multiplied by now and they have meat, eggs, and fresh vegetables every day. Thank God they don't lack food and, although the house is small, they have lived peacefully and she, all things considered, is happy here.
  • She heard about Lilith and Vítor's death. Some of the maids who usually pass by there say that it was Egil himself who sent them to their death for a betrayal he had discovered, but neither Mercedes nor Irene have told her what really happened. She, on her part, preferred not to ask too much about it to avoid reopening wounds for Mrs. Irene, who has suffered a lot from the death of her adoptive daughter.
  • She has never heard from Petra again, nobody in the hacienda knows about her or her whereabouts. Nor her servant. She heard that she fled, others say she died from her illness and that Egil preferred to hide it. In any case, many things have changed since her husband's return from his trip, and Adelaide is not blind. The guards who usually guard her estate have left and they no longer watch over her 24 hours like before, although they usually do rounds at night to check that everything is fine. Nor does it go unnoticed that all the servants behave differently with her and her daughter.
