Chapter 10 Punished

• Blood starts to stain the woman's clothes as some guards come to see what's happening. Adelaide feels dazed hearing the screams of the other young women; she doesn't understand what's going on or why Petra accused her when she didn't even see what had happened.
• "She wanted to kill me because she hates me?" Petra's screams alert Lilith, who is supervising some servants' activities in the adjacent garden. Adelaide remains silent, bewildered, not knowing what to say.
• Egil's cousin quickly arrives to see what's happening. From the blood on Petra's dress, who is crying bitterly, and the screams of the others accusing Adelaide, she can deduce what has happened.
