Chapter 4 Finding Myself
- One week later
- I pace back and forth, ever since they brought me here against my will, I haven't left. I have no way to communicate with my father, because no matter how much I call him, he doesn't answer.
- I haven't gone to classes either, I couldn't do it when everyone will be asking me about what happened at my birthday party and how I left. So, I've been locked up in this strange house, not knowing what to do.
- Fortunately, I haven't seen the old man I'm supposedly going to marry again, and the household staff is so kind that I feel comfortable here.
- 'Come to your senses, Day. How is it possible that you feel comfortable in your kidnapper's house?' I ask myself mentally, worried.
- “Is something wrong, miss? “Amy, the housekeeper, asks.
- “Amy, can a completely healthy and young woman develop Stockholm syndrome? “I ask with obvious concern.
- “What is that?
- “I need to get out or I'll go crazy. Surely, that's it.” I mutter with boredom.
- “You can go out if you want. In fact, the gentleman told me that you can go back to university if you wish.” Amy says, and I immediately refuse.
- “I don't want to go there. I don't feel capable of facing my friends.
- “Miss, marrying the gentleman is not bad.
- “If I were thirty, maybe not, but I'm just an eighteen-year-old girl who wants to enjoy life. I've been locked up here for a week like a prisoner, and that confirms my thoughts about him. He's a boring man, looking for a wife to make her his prisoner.
- “It's not like that, if you want, we can go wherever you want for at least an hour, then we'll go shopping.
- Joy runs through me when I hear the key phrase, and I immediately get up from my seat with renewed interest.
- “Let's go shopping right away! That will definitely lift my spirits.” I say immediately, and Amy nods.
- “Then, get ready to go out.
- “That's how I'll go, I'll change clothes according to what I buy.” I say excitedly, and Amy nods.
- Amy goes to get her bag, and I wait for her near the elevator identical to the one in my house. She smiles at me, and we both get into the car that I get to choose.
- “After shopping, you can go back home if you want, although the gentleman informed me that his father has not yet returned from his trip.
- “I can't understand how he can go on a business trip when he has left me with a strange man.
- “He's not a strange man, he's your fiancé.” Amy says, and I ignore her knowing I can't contradict what she says.
- As she told me, we go to several boutiques to buy various shoes and even underwear. Something that makes me blush, because she helps me choose things.
- “Wait a moment, why is everything we've chosen white? “I ask, seeing my three beautiful pairs of shoes in different models but all white.
- “The bride must wear white, miss. So, what we're buying should be that color.” Amy says, smiling at me, and I stop my happy walk.
- “What did you say?
- “We're buying everything for the wedding. It's only a week away, we must hurry.” Amy says, and I drop the bags that the bodyguards immediately pick up.
- Quickly, I walk away from them, although they run after me shouting my name. Seeing that everyone is watching me, I run to one of the bathrooms where they cannot follow me.
- "Miss, please. Don't make this complicated," Amy says, and I want to scream.
- "I want to go to college. I'm tired of shopping."
- "If you don't want to be with us, we understand, but please don't run like this."
- "Take me to college, I want to attend classes."
- 'If I go there, I can ask for help from my friends and leave. I can hide for a month or more and live happily without being married to an old man,' I tell myself mentally.
- "Alright, we'll take you," Amy says, and I leave the bathroom, to be escorted to the university shortly after.
- Immediately, I enter the facilities in search of Angela, a good friend of mine who always does what she wants. Seeing that she is in class, I enter directly, take her by the arm, and leave with her, ignoring the professor's complaints.
- "Take me away, Angela. It doesn't matter where, just hide me for at least a month," I say pleadingly.
- "Calm down. Although I like drama, it's best if you explain to me what's going on and what you want."
- "I want to clear my mind, help me with that, please."
- "Perfect, I know the perfect place for that," Angela says, and immediately takes me to the parking lot where I cautiously get into her car and we drive away, ignoring the academic repercussions of our escape.
- 'For that, our parents make good donations,' I tell myself mentally.
- During the trip, I tell her what happened to me this week and she mocks me, then consoles me with her perfect solution; a girls' night out at a nightclub.
- When we arrive at her property, it's already night, so we hurry to dress up sexy and head to the biggest nightclub in the city, one where Angela is so well-known that we don't need to wait in line.
- So, as soon as we arrive, we are taken to the liveliest part of the nightclub, where bodies touch and no one judges. Here, where there are many attractive guys who buy me drinks and smile at me, reminding me that there are very attractive men my age.
- "You're too beautiful to be alone," says a blond guy with green eyes.
- "Do I need an escort to have fun?"
- "If I were your boyfriend, I would be your shadow, darling," the man says, wrapping his arm around my waist.
- "Now imagine what I would do as your fiancé, to the bastard who dares to touch you," says someone with a cold voice.
- The next thing I hear is the guy complaining in pain, so I move away from him and that's when I notice my fiancé.
- "Have you had enough fun, fiancée?"
- "I-I..."
- The man pushes the guy and when he tries to escape, I am lifted onto his shoulder.
- "Let me go!"
- "I will, when I want to," he says, leaving the nightclub with me and getting into the car in a way that prevents me from moving.
- "Leave me alone!"
- "I can't."
- "Sir..."
- "Let's go to the bridal boutique, beautiful bride. We have clothes to buy. Since my fiancée didn't have time to do it this afternoon," the man informs with a murderous look.
- 'It's best not to speak or he could kill me,' I tell myself mentally as I feel like I can't even move because of his grip.
- I was out for two seconds and I'm already in trouble, darn it, how did he find me?
