Chapter 29 Eating Together

• The call ends with the answering machine message, so I hang up and look at the man who doesn't seem nervous, but I can't tell if it's because he isn't or if he's hiding it too well, so I stare at the man who keeps looking at me.
• "Tell me the truth, Ryan. This is your chance to be honest with me. We're married and maybe my father asked you for something in return for that, but you must understand that a marriage built on lies from the start is destined to fail.
• "So, I'll give you the opportunity to talk to me about all of this. I want to know if you're really going to be honest with me about my father and take a step back, because lying to me is stepping back to a point where the distance between us becomes too great."
