• He continued to gaze at Victoria through the glass walls when Miller returned, announcing that everything was ready to leave, catching him completely off guard.
• Taking a deep breath, he pretended to just be standing there lost in thought, letting the intrusion slide. With just one look, he ordered Miller to disappear, knowing perfectly well what to do when faced with one of those looks, so before attempting to say anything, he left.
• Impatiently, Matt waited a few minutes in the same position he had unknowingly stayed in for at least half an hour, legs apart and hands in his pockets. Shaking his head slightly, he headed to the foyer of the house, where he found Miller standing next to his suitcase waiting for instructions. But Matt didn't say anything; he simply took his place next to his assistant and waited for Victoria to walk through the door.
