She thought she was never going to feel warm again, but the second refill of hot water had done the trick. The entire time she was immersed in the tub, all she could think about was the fact that she had moved the water. Moved it? Controlled it? Jeri didn’t know what she had done, only that one moment she was going to drown and the next she was on the wet stones.
Capri had come and checked on her when she was getting dressed. She didn’t seem surprised that Jeri had done that with the water, even suggesting she speak to someone from Veiltide about honing the skill. She hadn’t said it out loud but hoped never to have to hone her skill to prevent from drowning again.
Opening the door to go into the garage, she paused at the top of the stairs and put her pendant back on. After what almost happened to Nova, she wasn’t taking any chances. She could hear several voices outside. News of what had happened to them must have traveled through the ranks to Alterealm by now.
