• Karen froze and asked incredulously, “What? What were you saying? Say that again. I didn’t quite follow you.” Gloria felt helpless. It was not that Karen didn’t hear him. She was just amazed and tried to confirm it. Jordy went to the sofa and sat down without a word. Not ready to give up, Karen laid her eyes on Gloria. “What’s going on? Gloria, what was that kid saying? What did you guys do?” Gloria’s eyes flickered. For a moment, she didn’t know what to say. It was their plan to deceive Karen, but she found it hard to lie. She was against the idea and would rather not get entangled with Jordy even if their relationship was false. Jordy read her mind, and his eyes dimmed. He was not happy about her repulsion.

He then said, “Yeah, we were on a date.” Gloria’s eyelashes fluttered. She pursed her lips but said nothing. Once upon a time, she was expectant to hear this from his mouth. Even if he was saying that to her alone, she would jump for joy. She had waited so long but had not expected to hear it on such an occasion. They no longer had feelings for each other, or to be precise, she no longer loved him. This might be fate.
