Chapter 555 An Assured Statement

  • “Mr. White occupied the properties of my father and me. Before bringing the case to court, I negotiated with him multiple times but to no avail. I have to pressure charges against him and demand the return of all the shares and the benefits he has obtained over the years.” Claude was astounded. He was pissed off. All of them? Before he could dwell on it, Gloria said again, “I mean, Mr. White should return all the shares.” Claude was stupefied. In the public gallery, Angela and Martha were both pulling long faces. “Gloria is insane!” Angela gnashed her teeth and whispered in disbelief, “Declan gave my dad some shares, and it was written in the contract. How could she…” Halfway through her speech, she sensed something wrong. Did Gloria spot loopholes in that contract too? Martha also realized the situation. Her face was sullen, and her eyes glinted with coldness. “Given her assured tone, she should have figured out something. It looks like the judge will rule in her favor.”
  • Her voice was calm. At that point, she could do nothing except for accepting it. They could figure out a way later instead of letting Gloria see them flustered. Angela ground her teeth, fuming with rage. “What makes she think she can do that? I don’t accept it. Declan is dead, and his relatives have the right to inherit his legacy. How could she ask us to return them all?” Just then, Claude’s lawyer started his argument. “Miss White, before your father passed away, he had transferred part of his shares to Mr. Claude White. Since he didn’t make a will, his relatives are entitled to inherit his legacy.” He was no longer so assured. When the right of inheritance was mentioned, he sounded diffident and had a feeling that Gloria still had something up her sleeve to turn the tide.
  • At the defendant’s table, Claude looked livid. This was a public occasion, but he couldn’t contain his emotions. He was aggrieved at the thought that Gloria was going to take away his shares. In contrast, Gloria was as calm as a cucumber. “About that, the contract is problematic. There are three loopholes.” The loopholes were then specified. The judge and the jury nodded. “Ms. Norma is right.” Claude was stunned. So, the shares given by Declan belong to the public now? She wants to divide them? So far, he still hadn’t figured out the situation. Gloria wasn’t going to give him a chance to divide the shares. She wanted them all back. “Hahaha… good job, Gloria! You’re my goddess!” Nydia was sitting in the public gallery, her eyes full of yearning, “I wished I could know an awesome lawyer and take her as my mentor. I thought I would not have a chance in my life: This is unexpected.” George’s face darkened. What a stupid woman! Don’t you know me?
