• Hu Tu cut Ning Yu’an off before putting on her shoes to leave, as she was already ridden with guilt. She went to the hotel that Ning Shang was at but booked herself into another room, for she wanted some time alone.
• After settling into her room, she got a text from Ning Jian, ‘Where are you?’ It was followed by a second text before she could reply, ‘Was it you outside the window?’ He seemed to be certain of it despite formulating his text as a question.
• Hu Tu shook her head out of reflex as his text startled her and quickly typed a reply, ‘I’m in the hotel, Uncle Ning Jian. I went off on my own since you didn’t come for me, and I’ll go home tomorrow.’ Finishing typing, she took a selfie and sent it to him. ‘Goodnight, Uncle Ning Jian.’
