Chapter 12 Asking Her to Leave
- Shen Beiyi abruptly turned around and gaped at Ning Shaochen incredulously after he’d blurted those words.
- “Didn’t you understand me?”
- “No!” Forgetting herself, Shen Beiyi shouted, “No, don’t kick me out!” She’d finally gotten in after all the hard work she’d expended and built a loose relationship with Ning Xiaoxi, so she definitely couldn’t leave now.
- Frowning at her outright refusal, Ning Shaochen approached her step by step.
- As an immensely oppressive aura rushed at her, Shen Beiyi retreated step by step until her back was plastered against the cold wall.
- She swallowed. “I… I just like Xiaoxi. I like children. I have absolutely no untoward intentions toward him, the Ning Family, and… and you.” She turned her head away, not daring to meet Ning Shaochen’s gaze.
- Upon seeing that he didn’t seem to be moved, she raised her right hand toward the heavens. “I, Shen Beiyi, swear that if I have any untoward intentions toward your family, I’ll be mowed down by a car!”
- Sensing the warm bursts of breath on her face, Shen Beiyi’s face heated and her heartbeat accelerated.
- Looking at her petite face that was stained crimson and her hair that was coming loose beside her cheeks due to the friction with the wall, Ning Shaochen felt as though this woman’s features looked much more exquisite up close, perchance because of the lightning. At this moment, she was even a little alluring. As his gaze dropped down, he could sense his breathing turning harsher when her heaving breasts entered his line of sight.
- All of a sudden, he pushed her away, his eyes darkening. “Your life or death is not sufficient to change my decision. Just go.” Then, he turned around and no longer looked at her.
- He would never allow Ning Xiaoxi to be placed in danger because of a woman.
- Shen Beiyi's body tilted. Only by holding herself up with a firm hand against the wall did she manage to stabilize her body.
- How could she allow herself to be kicked out just like this? She’d longed for five years before finally meeting him and she’d only interacted with him for a little over a month. How could she simply leave like this? No, never!
- “He was my mother’s attending physician. When my mother fell sick, she had to undergo chemotherapy often and was even hospitalized, so as time went by, we got acquainted. I don’t really know him that well and we’re only ordinary friends. I only met him today when I brought you the medicine. I also wasn’t deliberately disrespecting you when you were talking to me, but at that time… my period suddenly came, and my pants got stained. Thus, when I saw you, I couldn’t stand up, nor could I explain in front of so many people. I didn’t do it on purpose.”
- Shen Beiyi incoherently explained her relationship with Xia Yu. Wasn’t this man suspecting her because of Xia Yu’s status? So, if she told him everything in detail, would he then let her off?
- Circling around the desk, Ning Shaochen sat down on the chair behind it. He held a pen in his hand, while his eyes were fixed on the document in his other hand, but he made no other movement.
- He wasn’t surprised about the relationship between Xia Yu and Shen Beiyi since he’d asked Liu Xu to investigate that. He was, however, a tad astonished about her having her period. When he thought of her changed pants, the annoyance within him lessened quite a bit.
- Upon seeing that he still didn’t seem inclined to change his mind, Shen Beiyi’s heart sank. Supporting herself with a hand against the wall, she stood upright and looked at him. “I just like children. I like Xiaoxi. What else do you want before you’re willing to trust me?” Her voice even took on a pleading tone, for she was truly afraid that she’d have to leave just like this. With her status, it’d be difficult to even see Ning Xiaoxi in future.
- Ning Shaochen sneered. “It’s not only the Ning Family who has a child.” His face was devoid of emotion as he turned a deaf ear to her begging and pleading.
- Taking in a deep breath, Shen Beiyi stepped forward. Then, she dropped to her knees and knelt on the ground before him.
- Ning Shaochen was shocked upon seeing her action. If this woman was doing this for the sake of money, she could’ve just sought out Xia Yu. The amount of money she’d get from the man would far exceed the amount she’s making as a nanny for sure. But if it weren’t for the money, could it really because she likes children? However, to kneel before me just to take care of Ning Xiaoxi… This explanation seemed to be too far-fetched.
- When he thought of this, he hardened his resolve. “Get lost!” Regardless of the reason, he would never allow someone whose motivations were unknown to stay with Ning Xiaoxi.
- Shen Beiyi hung her head and bit her lip. After a long while, she stood up. Ning Xiaoxi, I’m sorry, but I’ve tried my best. Turning around, she walked toward the door, but both her legs felt leaden and each step was agonizing.
- When Ning Xiaoxi went downstairs for dinner and didn’t see Shen Beiyi, he pulled a long face. “Where’s Madam Shen?”
- “I’m not sure.” The servants all shook their heads.
- Ning Xiaoxi placed the bowl in his hand down heavily and turned to dash up the stairs, but just then, he spotted Ning Shaochen descending the stairs. Ning Shaochen swept his gaze over him. “What are you doing?”
- Ning Xiaoxi pursed his petite lips. “I’m going to go and call Madam Shen to come downstairs for dinner.”
- “You’re not allowed to go!” Ning Shaochen blocked him off and scooped him up by the waist, holding him firm under his armpit. Then, he walked toward the dining room.
- Ning Xiaoxi struggled mightily. “Let go of me.”
- Placing him on the chair, Ning Shaochen then passed a pair of chopsticks to him. “Eat. A new nanny will be coming tomorrow.”
- His tiny mouth parting slightly, Ning Xiaoxi’s mind gradually grasped his meaning, and he glared at him. “Why do you always like to make decisions for others? She’s here to take care of me, so how could you kick her out without my consent?”
- Ning Shaochen didn’t reply.
- “Why don’t you want Madam Shen here anymore?” Ning Xiaoxi asked again, refusing to give up. However, it was apparent that his voice was slightly shaky. “Daddy…”
- Still, there was no answer.
- Finally, Ning Xiaoxi could no longer sit still. Putting down the chopsticks in his hand once more, he’d already sprinted over to the stairs on his tiny legs before Ning Shaochen could react.
- Meanwhile, Shen Beiyi was packing her things. It was just a few things, but she’d packed for an entire half an hour.
- “Madam Shen…” Ning Xiaoxi breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing that Shen Beiyi was still here. Stepping forward, he then hugged her leg from behind her.
