Chapter 45 He Had Not Realized the Truth
- Gao Hai furrowed his brows together. Although neither his father nor Gao Wen had relayed their plans to him, he still had an inkling as to what they were up to. Our family had never deserved the gratitude we had been offered all these years. With his ruthlessness, Ning Shaochen could probably have both my father and sister meet their end, engagement be damned, if he were to discover the truth.
- “Don’t make me say it, Gao Wen. You have as much an idea as to why Ning Shaochen had stepped into an engagement with you. What would become of you if it came to the day when he discovered that everything was a lie? You should leave him before he has a chance to uncover the truth. He would at least look up to you with gratification, albeit with a little bit of guilt too.”
- Gao Hai had cared truly for Gao Wen despite her treatment of him, and didn’t want to see her harmed in any way, shape or form. Ning Shaochen didn’t truly love her, which he could tell, being a man himself.
