Chapter 10

• Derick POV
• Yesterday’s incident freaked me out, it’s been a long time since there was an attack on the pack and no one was prepared for it, especially me. I know I should apologize to Liam concerning the way I spoke to him in front of others, but I freaked out, and not having him here when the attack happened scared me. Liam has always been the son born for things like these, that perfect son to lead and be followed, whereas me I’m just that son who's never interested in the pack business. Yes, I love the pack. They’re my family and I would protect them at all cost, I love and accept who I am and nothing can change that, but I still got plans of my own, plans to someday marry Macy and leave Waterfall.
• I sat patiently in the living room waiting for my brother to come back, I heard from Mom he went to attend to some business around the neighboring packs, hopefully, he returns early.
• Thirty minutes later he walks through the front doors looking tired, he and Greg. Without wasting much time, I walked up to them.
• ”Liam, welcome home, can I talk to you ?” I tell him, he stops in his track and turns to me with an expressionless face, I’m guessing he didn’t expect me to speak to him. I ignore his look and walk closer to him.
• “Alpha I just wanted to say I apologize for my behavior yesterday, I should not have acted the way I did in front of others too. I’m sorry, Brother. The thing is I just got scared because you weren’t here, that’s why I feared something terrible would have happened, so I panicked.”
• “Derick it’s alright I know you didn’t mean that, and everyone was stressed, so I completely understand. Plus you did very well yesterday. I’m proud of you.”
• I smile at his words, regardless of what happens, he’ll always be my big brother, my Alpha, and my friend. I hug him, and he clenches as I touch him, “are you alright?” I asked him. Not only that, but I could swear for a minute there I thought I felt Rage’s presence.
• ”Derick, I’m fine, I’ll head up to my room now.”
• He says in a strained voice, without wasting much time or giving room for more questions, he walks away with his Beta on his trail who looks anxious.
• Something is not right with Liam, I hope all is well.
• Liam POV
• I had some business to attend to in the neighboring packs, Greg and I left the pack early this morning. The last thing I expected upon our arrival back home was an Apologizing Derick, but I’m glad he did realize his mistakes and decided to amend them. But he shouldn’t have hugged me, the moment he did that Rage almost lost it, the hatred brewing in this beast’s head has grown too much, my beast now hates my brother for having a claim on our mate.
• ” Liam you better fix this mess because I can’t bear it any longer, seeing him makes my blood boils.” Rage murmurs in my head.
• ”Hating my brother won’t change a thing, so relax I’ll try fixing it tomorrow.“
• ”You’ll bring her home tomorrow!.” He says happily in my head, I shrug at his behavior.
• “It’s not that easy, I am not bringing her home tomorrow so relax and stop dancing in my head. you’ll make my head hurt.”
• ” It's easy Liam you are just scared because you think she’ll reject you.”
• “scared! You think I’m being scared, shut up old wolf you know nothing about women.“
• ” Why don’t you give me a chance then, allow me to take control for just a day and watch how I bring her home to us and in our bed.” he says laughing in my head.
• “I’ll never do that so stop dreaming.” I tell him, and before he could talk again I block him off, I’m not in the mood to argue with an angry wolf.
• I was exhausted from today’s work, all I wanted was to take a shower and go to bed early. It was in the middle of the night when I felt someone touch me,
• ” You cannot run from your destiny child, the dark past of one’s mistakes shall once more be heard. The two souls shall meet and shall be one again and the drums shall be heard.”
• The words I heard were spoken to me in different voices. I couldn’t understand what it meant, I could hear the voices of men, women, and that of children all at once. I struggled to wake up, but it felt so real I could see myself floating in my room, with images flashing in my head, images I couldn’t register.
• Then I heard a scream. It was so loud my head hurt. I covered my ears with my hands and closed my eyes, then just like nothing happened I woke up sweating and panting on my bed.
• The sounds of birds chirping and the little rays of sun I could see through the curtains indicated that it was morning already, I sat up panting hard like I just run a marathon.
• Goddess that felt so real, Rage “Did you see it too?” I ask I feel him stir in my head
• “No Liam I think whoever did that blocked me, I couldn’t see anything but just feel your fear and worry.”
• “You think someone did this ?”
• ”Yes, in fact, I think, you were given a message.“
• That shit was scary and crazy at the same time, I needed to shower.
• I heard into my bathroom, took a look in the mirror, and froze as I saw blood coming out of my ear, it must have been from the noise in my dreams I thought out loud, but if I were dreaming why the hell am I bleeding physically ?
