• "Welcome to Newhaven," Aden Parker said with a smile as he shook Carlos' hand and then kissed the back of Emily's knuckles. "James and Ashley said that you were coming."
• "So you're what Ashley called... an Immortal?"
• Aden shrugged. "I guess that's an apt term. We use the term 'Caretakers' since we look after the Lurkers and help them out and we, in turn, receive the veritable fountain of youth from them so that we can protect them from other humans." He gave a pointed look at Carlos. "Which is not really going to endear you to people around here to begin with, mind you."
