Chapter 5
- DAMON
- ~•~
- I felt it again.
- The second she stood in front of my door, I knew she was the one, even without having to look up at her.
- It was a normal thing for lycans back in Adonis, but not me.
- My Lycan had deserted me after an accident that should've killed me.
- I was better off as dead, than as a lycan king without his lycan beast.
- Aries no longer spoke to me, but whenever she was around me, he seemed to appear from the blues.
- The closer she walked towards me, the more powerful I felt. I relished in the feeling, it felt surreal.
- A part of me wanted to believe it was the pain in her eyes that gave me the high, the ecstasy, but immediately she turned to leave, it started to dwindle.
- When she banged my door behind her, it was gone.
- So was Aries.
- I rose from my chair. I raised my right hand to my hair band, and took it off. My hair fell down to my shoulders, and I raked my fingers through the silver locs.
- It was the same feeling when she kissed me. The moment she had stepped away from me, Aries disappeared.
- There had to be something about her. If everything aunt Martha had said was true - that only my mate could spring Aries back to life - how was it possible that she was able to do it too?
- I needed to know everything about her. If she was more than she was letting on, she needed to be taken care of…appropriately.
- I picked up my phone from the table. I dialed AJ's number.
- "Boss?"
- "The girl, the girl from last night. She just walked out of the office. Did you see her?"
- "Yes boss. She just got into a black taxi."
- "Follow her. Report everything she does to me, every movement she makes, everyone who comes in contact with her. Do you understand?"
- "Yes, boss."
- The call ended. I waited for less than ten minutes before I received another call.
- "She is in the house now. We have reasons to believe she is with her parents. Do we stay out and wait?"
- By "we", I knew he meant himself and the rest of the guards.
- At her parents' house…
- An idea flashed in my mind immediately.
- "AJ, I need you to do something for me."
- |LATER THAT DAY|
- I stood in front of the warehouse, hands tucked into my side pockets.
- I was slowly running out of patience. Iris Peterson was supposed to be here thirty minutes ago.
- Was she trying to play with the life of her parents too? Or was she just careless about everything in her life?
- "Please! Let us go! We have done nothing wrong!" The woman behind me continued to cry.
- I had to say, she was slowly getting on my nerves. If her life did not matter my course, I would have dug a bullet hole right in the middle of her head. That would shut her up…for good.
- "Make sure she keeps quiet." I instructed the guard by my side.
- He nodded, and turned to meet her.
- "Please…!" Her voice hung midair. I did not know what he had done, nor did I care to know.
- Iris Peterson was slowly getting on my very last nerves.
- AJ started to approach me. He started with taking quick strides, then jogged towards me.
- I eyed him as he stood in front of me.
- "She's here, boss."
- I fought back my urge to smile.
- "It's about time."

- I was finally here. And it did not take me two seconds, after I had arrived at the gate of the abandoned warehouse I had been directed to, to know the devil who had taken my parents.
- Damon Maddox.
- My ex-boss, and the man I had kissed last night.
- At that moment, I wanted nothing but to curse the very night I had set my eyes on him.
- I should have really stayed home and drunk texted Philip all through the night.
- It was better than having to stand in front of this gate and fight for my parents.
- "He's asked you to come in." The guard, the one I had recognized, spoke to me when he arrived at the gate again.
- I glared at him, and suddenly recognized the voice. He was among the three men who attacked my parents, he had dropped the note on the table.
- Fucking bastard! I cursed within me.
- Oh! If I got my hands on his boss, I was going to squeeze the life out of him!
- I stomped into the gates. The familiar guard walked in front of me, while three armed ones stood behind me.
- From where I was, I could see him. His silver hair could not hide itself in the light, even if it tried. He was a tall man, almost seven feet.
- His domineering presence clouded me immediately I stepped in. I didn't know if it was the height, or the bright blue eyes that pierced through the skin of my chiffon top.
- If he wasn't holding my parents hostage, I would have raised my two middle fingers to his face. He deserved much worse.
- Finally, I stood in front of him. My heartbeat quickened in my chest.
- We had never been in this position; him standing so close to me. I was aware of our height difference, seeing as my head barely reached the top of his stomach.
- What did he eat to get so…monstrous?
- "You're late." He spat out.
- I narrowed my eyes on him, anger rising from the pit of my stomach.
- "Where are my parents? Why did you take them? What the fuck do you want from me?"
- "Easy, little dove."
- "Don't call me that." I snapped.
- He corked his left brow at me.
- "Your parents are safe," he paused, a mocking smile spread across his lips.
- "But they won't be for long, little dove."
- The lights around the warehouse came on immediately. I had only been able to see the one from the lamppost he stood directly under.
- My eyes darted behind him, and I found my parents!
- Mum and dad were cuffed at their hands and legs. Their eyes were blindfolded, and their mouth tied with black clothes. They leaned against barrels, both shivering violently.
- "Mum!" I screamed, tears ran down my eyes.
- I tried to run to her, but I was held back. Someone had picked me up from the ground, and even at that, I still couldn't reach his shoulders.
- I turned away from my mother, and looked at the monster in front of me.
- "What the fuck do you want from me?" I cried. I could not hold my tears back, even though it hurt me to give him such an edge over me.
- "What do I have to do to get my parents freed? I'll do whatever you want, just let them go!"
- He gestured to the man who had lifted me, and I was dropped immediately. His eyes returned to my small frame.
- "I'm glad you asked," He looked away from me.
- "AJ?"
- AJ? Who the fuck was…oh.
- The guard I knew stepped forward, and handed him a piece of paper.
- "Sign this. Get her a pen, AJ."
- Sign?
- He stretched the paper to me. The guard stretched a pen to me as well.
- I took both the paper, and the pen, then looked up at him.
- "What is this?"
- "A simple contract, little dove. One that states that you will be my mistress, you will stay by my side and be available whenever I want you to. And in return, I would release your parents, make sure they are safe, and well taken care of for the rest of their lives. It's a life long contract, so choose wisely."
- I did not know why, or how, but a bitter laugh escaped my throat. He raised a brow.
- This had to be some kind of joke.
- Right?
- He didn't smile back.
- Wrong.
- "What?!" I screamed once more. He winced when I screamed, and massaged his right ear.
- "You want me to become your mistress for life? For the rest of my life? What…?" I paused, sucking in a deep breath.
- "And if I refuse?"
- It was then he chuckled.
- He reached for his back pocket, and a dark pistol emerged in his left hand when he held it out.
- The pistol was aimed at my mother first. My eyes widened in horror.
- I let out a sharp gasp, and my hands flew to my mouth as tears ran down my eyes.
- He smiled at me. He fucking smiled at me!
- "I'm glad you asked. It's pretty simple. They die, and I take you. I win either way, so make a choice."
- He dropped his hand to his side.
- "You have two seconds. One…"
- No. No. I couldn't…
- "Two…" he raised the gun again.
- My heart continued to pound against the walls of my muscular chest.
- He corked the gun, and I swore my heart flew from my chest.
- He heaved a loud sigh.
- "Very well then…"
- "I'll do it!"
- He dropped his hand again. By the time he turned to look at me, I had signed my name at the bottom of the paper. My fingers trembled as I held out the contract to AJ.
- "I've signed it." I sniffed in my tears.
- "Now, let them go."
- "Of course." He replied.
- "Right after you're delivered to your work station."
- My brows squinted as I looked at him. Confusion washed through me with the breeze that blew past me.
- Work station? What was he…?
- My thoughts were cut off once again, when I was picked from the ground, and hurled over a man's shoulder.
- I raised my eyes to glare at him. Damon Maddox waved me goodbye with a bright smile on his face.
- "I'll see you around, my little dove."
- "What?!" I kicked the air, and desperately pounded the man's back.
- "Where are you taking me? Put me down this instant! Stop!"
- I was flung into the backseat of the car. I tried to jump out, but a firm hand clasped my mouth from behind me, a soft cloth was pressed against my nose.
- Everything went blank in a matter of seconds.
