Chapter 4 Skipped of Heart For The First Time
- Two days later
- Kiara
- I stroked mom hair while she remained my chest, sobbing softly.
- "It's okay mom, I'm not going forever, it's only two weeks" I reminded calmly, and she slowly stood properly to watch my face.
- "You don't have an idea of how lonely I would be without you for two weeks" She said sadly, and immediately, I didn't feel like going again.
- "And that was why I employed an house help" I glanced over at the girl, who was carrying my handbag, standing closely to the cab.
- "She would help kill your boredom, mom" I shot her a sweet smile but she only sighed.
- "Or won't you do that, Angela?" I asked the new girl.
- "Of course, I'll do my best ma'am" She replied politely.
- I nodded with satisfaction. I knew she would be a good girl since the day she was brought to my house.
- "Let me get going mom, I want to catch the early flight" I hugged her tight and disengaged almost immediately.
- "You should return with a responsible young man, Kiara" She said suddenly, sounding so serious.
- I itched my forehead.
- Here she comes again.
- "Call me when you need anything, mom" I pecked her cheeks and headed towards the cab.
- I took my handbag from Angela.
- "Please take good care of my mom" I told her with a friendly smile.
- "You've nothing to worry about, ma'am" She bowed lightly as she talks.
- Good.
- I slide into the cab, but mom got in the way before I could shut the door.
- "I'm serious about what I just said, Kiara"
- Seriously?
- Where does she expect me to find such guy between two weeks?
- "Okay, mom" I shot her a reassuring smile which earned a bright smile from her lips.
- Whoa..
- "Also, take good care of yourself"
- "Do not hesitate to call me if anything goes wrong" She said frantically.
- "Okay?"
- "Sure mom, take care of yourself too" I told her.
- She kissed my forehead before waving me a goodbye.
- "Let's go" I told the cab driver while waving at mom.
- "Yes, ma'am"
- He ignited the engine and sped into the expressway.
- "Bye Mom" I peered my head outside the window and shouted.
- "I'll miss you, dear" She also shouted. I smiled before taking in my head.
- "I'll miss you too, mom" I mumbled to myself.
- "You're welcome, ma'am"
- "How may I help you?" The receptionist at the hotel I arrived at asked me, diligently.
- The journey was just two hours and few minutes, and it was really exciting.
- "Can I have a standard room for a whole week or more?" I asked her, in a friendly manner.
- "Sure, ma'am"
- "But our standard room cost.."
- 'It's fine by me" I cut in calmly and she smiled.
- I knew their price already, cause I made a search before getting here- I learnt it's among the top five best hotels in the whole country, it really worths it though.
- "Come with me, ma'am" She picked some few things and began to walk forward, not after collecting my travel bag from me. I just nodded before following behind her, looking around the breathtaking environment.
- ********************
- Mack started laughing hysterically after I narrated all what granny had said last night. He stood up and went to sat on a single couch in the office, still laughing uncontrollably.
- My teeth started grinding on its own, as I watched him with pure anger.
- "You can'..t be.. serious, Alex?" He said amidst laughter. While watching him, I leaned back on the swivel chair, with my legs crossed.
- Heaven knows it was taking all the strength in me not to rush to him and throw some punches into his numb head.
- "Okay, enough of the laughter" He said as he rose to his feet.
- "Your glare might just send me to early grave" He joked while sitting on his previous seat, across the table.
- "Okay now, let me get this straight" He began with an impassive look, leaning on the table.
- "You mean grandma has made a final decision, that you Alexander, the city casanova, every ladies crush is getting married less than two months?" He emphasised.
- "I'm not a casanova" I corrected, plainly.
- "Yeah right, you're not a casanova, but a big time player" He teases, a line of disgusting smirk running across his lips.
- I also leaned over on the office table and twisted my lips.
- "What to do, Mack?" I asked him, tiredly. I couldt even think of something.
- "Huh?"
- "What do you mean what to do?"
- "You're getting married of course, that's the only better option" He said, mockingly.
- I hit my fist against the table angrily, causing him to flinch.
- "What do you mean I'm getting married?"
- "You of all people know I'm so not ready for that shit!,not anytime soon" I yelled.
- "Then what will you do, going against grandma?"
- I breathe out heavily before running a hand through my hair in frustration. I slowly got on my feet and moved towards the view from the office window.
- Granny is my breathe, my soul, my heart. She's the only person I have left after my parents died in a car accident.
- She raised me so well and took good care of me, like she's my own mother. My headache is her headache, and not even for once, she ever got tired of me. I owe her so much, but getting married...
- I rubbed my eyes before turning to face Mack. He was also staring back at me with sympathetic look.
- I smiled inwardly.
- He's the next after granny, we've been best friends since we were in elementary school. He was the only person that could stand my naughty and bossy behavior. And many times, I would push him away but he kept coming back till I lost the strength of fighting him. He became my only friend back in the school and till now,I don't ever wish anything could separate us cause he's the best friend anyone could ever wish for. I made him the company manager, he deserves it though but truthfully, I really don't want him to leave my side, and he never leaves- except it's business related.
- "Have you come up with an idea?" He asked softly while standing up.
- I exhaled softly.
- "Nah.. but right now, I need to f**k" I winked at him and brushed my arm past his.
- "Uhmm..should I get you a girl then?"
- "I'm going to the hotel myself, wanna come with?" I asked him while fixing some cash into my wallet.
- "Yeah, I'll drive"
- "But this is 6:30 Alex, remember you must get home before 9:00pm?" Mack reminded and i just nodded.
- 🚘🚘🚘
- "Whoa,man!... It's been months we came here" I said excitedly as I came down from the car.
- Lone Star Inn is one of the best hotel here.
- "I'm glad I could lighten up your mood a little" He stood next to me and said, proudly.
- I scoffed softly.
- "So silly" I mumbled while adjusting my belt.
- "Now, let's move" I said and began to walk ahead.
- "To where?"
- "To the bar room of course, that's the only place we can catch something better" I turned to him and explained, joyously.
- It's strange I'm kinda happy all of a sudden.
- Uhmm...
- After a few walks, we arrived at the lounge bar . I walked inside while Mack was still exchanging pleasantries with the security guard at the entrance.
- Gladly, our usual spot wasn't occupied. I strode towards it and sat down on the settee.
- My eyes were scanning through the breezy bar,in search of the bartender when Mack came in.
- "About time" I said to him, immediately he sat down.
- "I once met him at a conference meeting before, that was some months ago" He explained and I just nodded.
- "Won't you ask what he's doing here as a guard when I just said I met him at a conference meeting before?" He raised he brows.
- I shrugged. "It's not of my business Mack, not like we know each other" I said bluntly, looking around for the bar man.
- "You're unbelievable, Alex. Anyways, he lost his job not so long after the conference meeting I just talked about, he was accused of...." He voice trailed off.
- "Accused of what?" I asked him, but he wasn't listening. He was just staring ahead so I snapped my fingers to his face, still, he didn't blink.
- "Alex, look" He murmured. I tilted my head to the same direction he was lost staring at, and for the first time in my life, my heart beat skip.
- She was smiling at her phone while pressing it. I watched as she lifted her glass of wine to her lips, she sipped at it before dropping the glass on the table.
- She's so..
- "Alex" Mack's voice jolted me.
- I gulped down as my arousal rose thick beneath my trouser.
- I turned to look Mack, but instead my eyes caught with some lowlifes, they were also staring at her with lust filled eyes.
- I seethed and sprang on my feet.
- I must shoot my shot before anyone else could.
