• Brandon was somewhat surprised that Jacob and Aldo had bothered to get up so early to see them off. Jacob was yawning, and Aldo’s face bore a sleepy trace that gave him a more approachable look. For once, Aldo seemed almost human.
• “Thanks for your help,” Jacob said, shaking Ethan’s hand firmly. “We really appreciate it.”
• Ethan nodded, his hand finding its way to Brandon’s nape. “Into the car,” he commanded, his tone leaving no room for argument. It was clear he wanted to exchange a few words with Aldo in private. Keeping his expression neutral, Brandon waved awkwardly at Jacob before striding towards the car.
